Hyrdrogeology Field Camp                                                                       2015

Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI

 

  • Observed the processes of well drilling and installation of hollow stem auger drilling, mud and air rotary drilling, sonic drilling, modern direct push drilling and cable tool drilling.

  • Collected and described sediment samples from cuttings, split spoon, and Shelby tube sampling.

  • Learned methods of remediation design and how to implement bioremdiation, pump and treat systems, soil vapor extraction, air sparging, etc.

  • Performed and completed Phase I and Phase II ESA.

  • Performed chemical analyses of groundwater, vadose zone, and lake water samples while applying quality control and quality assurance.

  • Conducted a step draw-down test for a forty-hour aquifer test followed by a recovery test using water level recorders, data loggers and water level measuring equipment.
